Went to the USS North Carolina back in May for Memorial Day. It is docked in Wilmington, NC. If you ever get a chance to tour it, take the tour, it's great.

The Marine Corps Band played for the Service. I'm glad my kids got to experience it. Taps still brings a tear to my eye.

Paul was a U.S. Marine from 1943 to 1946, who fought in the same division, 1st Marine Division (3/7), on Okinawa as Eugene Sledge (3/5), author of With the Old Breed and subject of HBO’s ‘The Pacific’.  Full story »
